Take all these similes to your own command,
Champion of the Fields is a popular soccer - or football - title from NetEase Games that originally launched in June in 2019. Given that it's been available for over a year now, NetEase has decided to release an update that promises to improve Champion of the Fields immensely.

One of these upgrades will come in the form of updated graphics for the players themselves. Each footballer will have a more detailed look and you'll even be able to see them start to sweat as the match wears on. There's also a Real Shadow option that will create more realistic shadows to enhance the 3D visuals of Champions of the Fields.

Similarly, the lightning has also been improved for both day and night matches and to top it off the grass has also been made to look more realistic as well. To give the stadiums more life, players will also notice additional NPCs working during the matches such as cameramen and security personnel.

Speaking of which, there is also a new mid-range camera angle to use if you'd prefer. This will be present as part of the various replay angles that have been added so you can enjoy your latest world-class goal from every perspective. You'll also be able to commemorate scoring them appropriately with more players now having their signature celebrations.

The updated version also has overhauled mechanics for both dribbling and passing. The control on the ball is now apparently vastly improved whilst passes will find their target much faster. Coupled with improved A,I players should be able to implement some excellent build-up play.

Finally, there will be a new competitive format called Pinnacle Match that will be available to managers who are Legendary III or higher. This mode will be available between 12:00-14:00 and 19:00-22:00. At the end of each Pinnacle Season, players will receive a plethora of rewards.

Champion of the Fields is available now over on the App Store and Google Play. It's a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
Looking for other sports games to play on your mobile? Here are 25 of the best available for iPhone and iPad
"But living--going about in the flesh?" persisted Anne."On a spring day like this," said Anne, "I know exactly what my soul will feel like on the resurrection morning."
Previously unseen screenshots of what appears to be the long-awaited Final Fantasy XI Mobile have been making the rounds over the last 24 hours. The images were first discovered by fan site FFXI Mobile ES (found via VG247 and Gamer Escape), and they give us a look at the game's world map and impressive environments.

The last time we heard a peep about this one was in May of 2018 when a job listing featuring new screenshots for the MMO was spotted on developer Nexon's official site. Prior to that, in April of 2016, Nexon confirmed that Final Fantasy XI Mobile would be a full-on reboot built from the ground up for mobile using Unreal Engine 4.

It was all – as still is – quite exciting, and the optimist in me wants to believe that there's maybe still life in the project. I'm not getting my hopes up just yet, mind. It's also worth noting that the images were found on a portfolio site. The original page is now dead, but we've been able to recover a few screenshots in reasonably high quality.

Everything is up in the air at the moment when it comes to FFXI Mobile, but what I do know is that the MMO genre on mobile is now busier than ever, and even a AAA Final Fantasy game would be facing some stiff competition from the likes of Dragon Raja and Black Desert Mobile.

Maybe it's dead, maybe it's not – I'd just rather know one way or the other. Hopefully we'll find out soon enough.

If you're a mobile gamer and are feeling starved of Final Fantasy goodness, you should probably look into the recently released War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. There's also Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition, which is still pretty impressive years after launch.
Searching for an epic RPG adventure? Here are 25 of our absolute favourites for iPhone and iPad

Yep, 12 months on from the Pocket Gamer Awards 2015 come the Pocket Gamer Awards 2016.

It's like we run with the precision and efficiency of a Rolex.

This means it's time to reward the passion and effort that developers have poured into making what we consider to be some of the best gaming experiences of the past year by giving them another shot at the limelight.

PG Awards veterans (we've done seven of these now) will know how this works but just to recap:

We pick what we feel are the highlights from games reviewed (or released) during 2015 and then ask you to vote for your favourite finalist(s).

Simple. You can do so here.
Surprise!
You've noticed something's different, haven't you? That's because this March Pocket Gamer celebrates 10 years in the business.

Hooyah. (Not Ouya.)

To commemorate this momentous occasion within the PG Awards (expect more commemoration elsewhere, naturally) we've added the 'PG Legends' categories. And we've filled them with the games, developers, and publishers that have made some of the biggest splashes on the portable gaming scene during the past decade.

So you get to champion these guys too.

That's it. Go see, go vote – and thanks for taking part.

(As ever, if you disagree with our choices don't get mad, get typing – let us know your picks in the comments below.)

My Arcade, one of the biggest names in retro gaming devices, has got three new products up for pre-order today – the Dig Dug Pocket Player, the Bubble Bobble Pocket Player, and the Rolling Thunder Micro Player.

All three devices are officially licensed and of unusually high quality for this sort of thing. Looking at the pics, they've clearly been lovingly customised to fit the theme of their game, and the Pocket Players boast a 2.75” backlit screen, 3.5mm headphone jack, and front-facing speakers.

The Dig Dug Pocket Player features 8-bit versions of both Dig Dug and its sequel, Dug Dug II. They of course challenge you to work your way through underground, monster-filled tunnels. It also includes The Tower of Druaga, a bonus game where you navigate mazes to save a fair maiden from the evil demon who hunts her.

The Bubble Bobble Pocket Player includes 8-bit versions of both the original game and its nigh impossible-to-find sequel, Bubble Bobble Part 2. And now, for the first time ever, you’ll be able to enjoy Rainbow Islands: The Story of Bubble Bobble 2 which sees you travelling across a varied selection of lands to save the Rainbow Islands.

Last but certainly not least is the Rolling Thunder Micro Player, a 6.75” mini arcade cabinet with a 2.75” screen, full volume control, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Under the hood, it's pretty much the same device as the Contra Micro Player that we talked about a while back, though it's obviously rocking a Rolling Thunder theme instead.

If you like the look of any of these devices, you can pre-order them now over on the official My Arcade site. They’re all priced at $34.99, and they’re currently slated to ship on August 5th, so lovers of retro games/tech thankfully don’t have too long to wait.
Check out our news section to discover the latest, and greatest, games.

Rayark's known for high quality mobile experiences that are polished beyond what you'd usually expect on your platform.

Implosion is still one of the best premium ARPG that you can get on mobile and is incredibly satisfying. It even got updated with more content a little while ago with a new campaign and more added to the game for free.

Rayark's now looking at its next game, Soul of Eden, announced earlier this year. It's a mix of card game and MOBA, a cocktail that sounds obviously familiar now thanks to Clash Royale but I'm curious to see how Rayark will approach this genre and if the game is going to be free to play or premium.

It released this short trailer in January:
